Physical Therapy

Our goal at OrthoSport is to optimize function and enhance your game. A licensed physical therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation and develop a personalized plan of care to assist in getting you back to normal as quickly and safely as possible. Various approaches can be used to help achieve your goals including the use of modalities, exercise, manual therapy, functional activities, custom fit foot orthotics, and a home exercise program.

Our therapy staff average over 15 years of hands-on experience and are committed to staying up to date on the latest techniques to treat your problem. We specialize in both general and sports orthopedic medicine but can treat other problems that are not orthopedic in nature. Our staff believes strongly in patient education to assist in proper rehabilitation, prevention of future injury, and self management techniques.

Components of Physical Therapy:

A licensed physical therapist assesses each patient to identify their deficits and
determine their needs for rehabilitation.

These include ice packs, hot packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cervical traction and lumbar traction.

Patients learn how to perform exercises for range of motion (ROM) and flexibility, strengthening, balance and coordination, posture, and endurance.

Manual Therapy
There are numerous techniques a therapist may perform including specific joint and soft tissue mobilization and massage. All manual therapy is performed with hands-on technique.

Functional Activities
These exercises incorporate sports and activity specific skills to assist in retraining the body. This will help with your successful return to work, sports, and activities of daily living.

Custom Fit Foot Orthotics
Poor foot and ankle mechanics including flat feet can contribute to many leg and spinal problems. Our therapists cast and fit Sole Support Orthotics. These orthotics are very successful in treating foot and ankle problems (including plantar fasciitis) and assist in aligning the leg in a more biomechanically correct position.

Home Exercise Program
Each patient will be given specific exercises and/or activities to perform on their own to enhance their rehabilitation process. After a patient has been discharged from OrthoSport they may continue their exercises through our Extended Rehab program.
